About Alexis Dawes, Editor of Indie Lust
I’m an author by trade.
A New Yorker by birthright.
A nomad by choice.
A tattoo lover because I have them.
A single mom 24 hours a day. (Happily, might I add.)
And a shit talker after a few martini’s.
I don’t like to drive. I’m not really crazy about cooking. And I can’t stand khaki on top of khaki on top of khaki, a la Gap style.
My Style…
I am part b-girl, part coquette, part city chic.
I may buy a few trendy pieces each season. But I don’t consider myself to be a hardcore trend follower.
I appreciate unique style more than I like a labels. Unique style makes the Gucci girls secretly spy you from the corners of their eyes. I believe a single piece of your outfit can make a huge statement.
I think jewelry is underrated, and skinny models are overrated.
Ballet flats aren’t a trend for me. They’re a way of life. And believe me when I say they can be just as mantrapper-ish as a pair of heels.
This year I’m making a transition to wearing just skirts and dresses - no pants allowed. Skirts are sexier… more womanly and expressive. I’m partial to fuller, knee length A-line skirts, or knee length pencil skirts. I do occasionally go longer and shorter.
I’m all about the neck candy. A wonderful habit I blame on the Parisians, who probably teach scarf tying in elementary school.
My Size…
Pants 4-6
Tops/Jackets 8 / Medium
Shoes 8 / 39
