There’s Something I Need to Discuss With You

Friday, June 15th, 2007

All the foxy mama’s in the Small Earring Club, can you raise your hands please?

Wow… so many of you.

That’s good. Because today I’m having an intervention. Yes - a virtual intervention.

Don’t run. Don’t click away. It’s gonna be alright.

The reason why I’ve called this intervention is because it’s summertime sweetie. And it’s time to put those itty-bitty earrings away. In the jewelry box they go - goodbye.

It’s time to gussy yourself up for the summer. Frame that beautiful face of yours with a pair of Stunning Details earrings. Indulge in those gorgeous hammered hoops. Put on some gloss and do a Rupaul down the supermarket catwalk. Come on doll - you can do it.

Stunning Details are your gem quality good earrings, that you can wear every day. They’re ready for jeans or a halter dress. And they’re so flirty.

And don’t worry… you can thank me later. After he’s done whispering sweet nothings in your ear.  Wink-wink.

My Mom Says, “Don’t Buy Alexis’ Paper Earrings…”

Wednesday, May 30th, 2007

Last year when I was in my ‘craft-or-die’ mode, I created a pair of paper earrings.

I took my daughter out for the day, did some shopping, and went back to my moms house.

She looked at my paper earring creations that I’d been flaunting for the previous 6 hours, and shamelessly asked, “Did you actually wear those OUTSIDE today?”

I paused, “Yeah… I did.”

“Well please don’t wear them again. You need more practice before you’re ready for prime time.”

My mom was right. I looked at those earrings the other day and just laughed.

I’ll leave the paper jewelry making to the people who actually know what they’re doing.

Like Jennifer Lownie at Paper Jewels. She does a much better job. They have a cool, almost vintage-like look to them.

Girls Wanting Leather Feathers Can Flock Together

Thursday, April 19th, 2007

I was reading Parisian Vogue the other day. Well actually, I was more or less looking at the pictures, since my French is rather (ahem) mediocre at best.

And one of the coming soon trends they’re showcasing is fringey, western wear.

Okay so I’m one of those girls who wears cowboy boots regardless of the trend. But I’m not a fringe aficionado.

Fringe makes me feel like I’m wearing a tight white prom dress, while I’m on my period. I’m a nutcase all day imagining how I look in it.

I do have a more conservative replacement though.

These leather feather earrings by Aylin Gould who runs Fat Free Style are delicious.

They’re made from soft lambskin leather, so they’re delicate and flirty. And they come in a rainbow of colors, to the delight of my credit card company.
