Nostalgic at 30-Something

Thursday, August 9th, 2007

Living in NY is so awesome.

I can wear big, gold doorknocker earrings, and feel right at home. They never went out of style here.

I feel nostalgic in New York. Like I wanna put on a pair of old school roller skates (skates - not blades) with the big pom-pom’s on the top… slap a Salt and Pepa tape into my Sony Walkman… and talk about the cute boy (in the Lee jeans) at the bustop.

Aaaaah, those were the days.

Okay… so I won’t be roller skating anytime soon. And guys wearing Lee jeans don’t really ring my bell any more.

But I can at least live semi-vicariously through Elsiebelle’s adorable jewelry.

Her pieces have an urban-ish cutesy appeal that I’m often attracted to. My favorite is that roller skate - which my daughter and I would probably fight each other to wear.

Amy’s Shirt… Will You Marry Me?

We all know I’m an insatiable clothes whore. No-o-o-o secret there folks.

But I think I’m ready to settle down - (at least for tonight) - With Spiderlily.

Amy Mello - the design queen behind the line - creates a gorgeous collection, one-of-a-kind tops. Yes… one-of-a-kind, as in created from her own patterns, and sewn on her own machine.

My favorite is that ruffled shoulder number. The colors are yummy… I love the clean geometric lines… and the style screams “Attention Betty’s - let your eyes wander to my uber cute top!”

When this girl is in Lucky, remember you saw it here first!

Lacy, But Not Racy

First off, sorry for the brief hiatus. I just completed my move to NYC.

(Aaaah… the sound of traffic at night is like chicken soup for the city lovers soul.)

I love it here. Although my first priority is 3-4 pairs of cute walking shoes. The concrete jungle can be murder on one’s feet! Especially since I’ve been driving in a golf cart all summer long.

Speaking of golf carts, today’s featured evening attire is very country club soiree chic.

All of these dresses can be found at Conversation Pieces - a sweet little online store featuring assorted gear by independent designers. And all of them are under $60 - making them extremely ’shop till you drop’ friendly.

And the “Aaaawwww!” Award Goes To…

There’s a special place in my heart for work-at-home-mommas.

Of course because I am one, and I understand how intense it can be when you’re trying to answer e-mails, fulfill orders, talk on the phone, and mop up the spilled juice with your foot and a paper towel - all at once.

But when I saw Allie Mac, one part of me was drawn to the site for her super darling handbags - all of which are handmade. Another part of me was drawn to her 2 gorgeous little girls.

Allie Mac has the “Aaaaawwww!” factor all the way around.
